Our Home Sweet Home |
After searching for the perfect home for nearly a year, in late 1999 Julie and I struck gold in the quaint bedroom community of Scotch Ridge, Ohio. Located a few miles from our college alma matter in Bowing Green, Ohio, our home sits on just under a half-acre of land across the road from the river. Originally built in the late 1860's, the house was lovingly restored and expanded by the former owners who had lived there for 47 years.
Our home has three bedrooms (including one double-sized bedroom with two twin beds plus our three children's beds), two full baths, large eat-in kitchen (complete with Tiffany lighting fixture!), formal dining room (with coved ceilings), laundry room, sunroom, a living room (which also houses our library of eight bookcases) and a basement. We also have a two car garage with an attached woodworking shop that we use as a storage depot. Behind the garden in the back yard we also have a small building labeled the "Ye Olde Milkhaus" in which we store our yard and garden tools.
Scotch Ridge is a great place to raise a family and we are blessed with many wonderful neighbours. There are several other young families in area, so our children will have heaps of playmates as they grow up. The local elementary school is within walking distance from our house, and we often spend summer evenings at the playground there with the other neighbourhood children.
