How to Calculate What a Property Tax Levy Will Cost You
IF YOU USE THE INTERNET
Go to the Wood County Auditor's web site: www.co.wood.oh.us/
Click on Wood County Real Estate On-line near the top of the page
Click on Additional Searches at the top
Enter your address and click START SEARCH
The page should show your name and address, other information about your property, the appraised value of home and land, and the assessed value of home and land. Your property taxes are based on the assessed value. The appraised value may or may not be the same as the market value.
Click on Click Here for the Levy Calculator, in red above the top blue line.
Check whether property is residential, agricultural or commercial. Enter mils for new levy. E.g. if the levy is 4.2 mils, enter 4.2.
You will see your current taxes, calculated additional for the new levy, and calculated total including the new levy.

IF YOU DON'T USE THE INTERNET
Call the Wood County Auditor's office at 419-354-9173. They are open between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Ask for your assessed valuation. This should be 35% of the current appraised valuation of home plus land. The appraised valuation may or may not reflect actual market value. Property taxes are based on the ASSESSED VALUATION.
Multiply the levy millage by .001. e.g., if the levy is 4.2 mills, the result is .0042
Multiply this number times the assessed valuation. The result will be the maximum new tax you would pay.
The state currently pays 10% of property taxes plus an additional 2.5% for owner-occupied properties. So multiply your answer from step 3 by .875 (87.5%) to get the actual new tax.
Example: appraised valuation $128,000
Assessed valuation $44,800
4.2 mil levy
$44,800 x .0042 = $188.16
$188.16 x .875 = $164.64 This is the additional tax for the new levy
